Thomas Leruth

Thomas always had a passion for education and teaching. This passion translated into founding both a tutoring organisation as well as the A Bethter World foundation.

I always believed that everyone should be able to obtain the best education possible. Luckily, my passion and skills coincided with that goal and enabled me to start a tutoring organization that strive to provide the highest-quality teaching in the Netherlands. However, I know that there are people that are less fortunate, which is why I now want to go further. As a result, I founded A Bethter World to help those people as well as hopefully inspire others to do the same.

After I received my first grade card at the age of six, I wondered why I was blessed with so many great odds in the lottery of life. I then vouched to myself to not have been worthy of those odds if I wouldn’t do everything I can to increase the odds of people who were born in less fortunate circumstances. As I learned about the limitations of life and (our) nature, I have made the slogan “more impact & less effort” central to my life’s vision. This is also what I will bring to A Bethter World and why it is an honour to me that I can support Thomas and Florian in the charity’s aim of amongst others reaching as much positive impact in the world with the resources available. This I do by giving them reliable data. For example, even though education is highly regarded by our group, the data show that factors such as countering malnutrition in young children as well as deworming them provides the most social return for every euro invested.

Florian Knaeple

Florian is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Maastricht University. He always had a keen interest in learning, helping people to further their education and creating environments where people feel comfortable to study and grow.

During both my undergrad and graduate education, I got the opportunity to work for the university as a tutor in various courses. This time was highly enjoyable for me, which is why I continued teaching and ultimately joined Thomas in his pursuit to provide high-quality education to students in Maastricht. However, I believe that helping others can go even further; which is why I decided to join A Bethter World.

If we can find the right way to positively impact people, our future will be changed for the better.

We all deserve a future. It is up to us to make sure that this future as bright as it can be.
